‘American Idol XIV’ results: Was Rayvon Owen, Qaasim Middleton saved by viewers?
Tonight, “American Idol XIV” brought back the Twitter Fan Save for the second straight week, and we really got a better sense of the pecking order the moment that we realized that both Rayvon Owen and Qaasim Middleton were in danger. These are the guys clearly getting lower votes than the other six. One of them was saved by the judges, and the other has been saved once by Twitter before.
Going into the results tonight, our feeling was simple: Qaasim probably needed to go. Do we like him as a performer? Definitely, but we’re at the point now where his vocal limitations are really too much to ignore. He is going to have to pay the piper for that at some point, and now seems as good of a time as any. While Rayvon does lack a little charisma on stage at all, he can out-sing Qaasim any day of the week. We’ll just have to see whether or not the majority of the American public agrees with us.
When we were looking at Twitter to see what some people out there were saying about the singers, we were seeing a pretty split line between Qaasim fans and Rayvon fans. We understand the desire to keep both of them, given that each one of them do bring something different to the table.
Luckily, Rayvon stayed! He’s sweat bullets the past two weeks and he may be doomed next week, but at least it’s another chance to show off his talent.
