‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Carly Rae Jepsen performs ‘I Really Like You’
Tonight, Carly came on the show to perform her new single “I Really Like You,” which has a name that virtually says it all. We really want to like her, given that she seems to be such a positive, fun-loving person with a knack for singing pop music. However, there just wasn’t much there when it comes to this song. It’s the same thing as every other pop song out there, and the lyrics are very repetitive and not as catchy as “Call Me Maybe.” Hey, at least the music video is really fun if you haven’t seen it! (Hint: It features Tom Hanks.)
As for the second song, we admittedly haven’t been able to find much of anything about it online yet. Maybe that is because it’s brand-new, but we rather liked it. It didn’t have the same repetition problem as the original, and there was a cool ’80’s slow-jam vibe going on here.
Next week, Taraji P. Henson is going to be hosting the show, and this means a return from Mumford & Sons as the musical guest.
