‘Fashion Police’ not canceled by E!, but pulled on very long hiatus

E! Logo -After everything that has happened over the past couple of weeks, we really have to say that we saw this one coming. While E! is not ending “Fashion Police” after some not-so-kind comments about the show from former star Kathy Griffin, they have decided that they are not nearly as interested in returning in March as they once were.

E! has confirmed that they are now going to wait in order to relaunch the show until around the time of the Emmys in September. Clearly, the idea here is to distance itself from some of the drama, and also making it clear that this show is meant to be about fun more than anything else. Also, the statement makes it clear that Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, and executive producer Melissa Rivers are all going to return:

“E!’s comedy series Fashion Police is going on hiatus and will return in September.  We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season.  Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with Executive Producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show into its next chapter for the legions of Fashion Police fans around the world.”

There are many challenges now that the network faces, and that includes finding a new comedian type to replace Griffin, and also someone to step into the position previously held by Kelly Osbourne. This is not necessarily going to be an easy challenge, given that slamming someone for their clothes is not nearly as widely-accepted thing as it was years ago.
