NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Joshua Davis, Brian Johnson, Ashley Morgan, and Mia Z. among first battles
Before we get too far into this part of the episode, head over here to read our full take on the blind auditions. Now, let’s get to what were at least some good vocal performances!
Mia Z. d. Ashley Morgan, Team Pharrell – This did not take long for there to be drama! Both of these women had killer voices, and Adam Levine called this a pancakes-or-waffles situation almost. Pharrell picked Mia, which was apparently such a shock that all three coaches went in for the steal. Adam made a hard push to steal her, but in the end she ended up going with Christina.
Tonya Boyd-Cannon d. James McNeice, Team Adam – Not a whole lot of drama here, even if the coaches tried to make it look closer than it was. We didn’t really love the song choice of “PYT,” but Tonya has SOUL for days. She won this pretty easily for us, and there was no steal.
Brian Johnson d. Joshua Davis, Team Blake – Another big steal, and another great battle! Blake seems to have a real connection to Brian, so you better watch out for these two and what they do. Also, Joshua should be a perfect addition to Team Adam. No reason to worry here.
