‘King of the Nerds’ season 3, episode 6 podcast: On Colby’s exit, murder challenge, rankings with Jessa
Friday night’s “King of the Nerds” episode was definitely a little creepy, and we mean that in a good way. We love a good murder mystery, and it is for that reason that we love the show going in the route that they did with the theme.
Did every element of it work for us? That is something that we explain at length during our recent CarterMatt Podcast, including some of the obvious similarities between this challenge and “Whodunnit,” one of our favorite shows to never see the light of day for another season. We talk about the costumes, the death (which was actually not really a death), and a whole lot else that took place throughout the entire episode. This challenge was a fun idea, but hampered slightly in execution through no fault of production’s; it is just hard to create tension when you have a blowout like this one was.
From here, we get into talking about Colby’s demise, including his struggle at times to forge bonds with other contestants. In addition to that, we also go into a discussion about whether or not Colby was an outcast from the start because of his television history. This stems from something Raychelle said at the end of the episode about no one being altogether pleased about a “Jeopardy!” champion becoming a part of the season. This is more of a discussion about reality TV casting, complete with a few lessons we’ve learned ourselves along the way.
