‘Better Call Saul’ episode 6 preview: The story of Jonathan Bank’s Mike Ehrmantraut
When are we going to see more of Mike? Throughout all of “Better Call Saul” this season, this is the primary question that we have asked ourselves. It’s nice to finally have an answer.
With the arrival of the authorities and more at Mike’s door Monday night, it’s clear that we are finally going to get to see more of his backstory. This involves his time on the East Coast, a very notable death, and him having to face his past in one of the hardest ways imaginable. Unfortunately, Jonathan Banks’ character is not a guy who seems to have many friends. Therefore, he has no one really to turn to … except for maybe Jimmy. He is a lawyer who may be able to help in this situation, and this may be the beginning of the relationship that eventually evolves into what we see during the later seasons of “Breaking Bad.”
The joy in this story is that for the most part, we still know very little about Mike’s life before coming to New Mexico. He kept to himself, and asked few questions … much like he also answered few of them.
Early buzz surrounding the show has said for some time that episode 6 is a tremendous hour of television, and while we never want to hype something too much in fear of creating unfair expectations, it is easy to say that this should be one that you either watch live, or make sure you are in a position where no one can ruin it for you in advance.
