‘The Following’ season 3 premiere preview: Ryan Hardy gives a speech; what happens next?

The season premiere of “The Following” is going to air on Fox come Monday night, and it feels already like there is definitely going to be change apparent almost immediately.

When the show picks up, Ryan Hardy is going to be at a wedding, and he will be making one of the sweetest, most-romantic toasts imaginable about having someone to wash away all of your demons and everything else. Much time will have passed since Joe Carroll was arrested; he probably never thought he would have peace and love in his life again, but he has managed to make it work.

While all of this is lovely to say, there is still one other question that you do have to ask yourself at this particular moment: Just how long is all of this really going to last? For the time being, our simple answer is probably “not long.” While the sneak peek below shows Kevin Bacon’s character having a good time, this does not change the fact that we’re worried about what happens next. Violence will have to erupt sooner rather than later on this show; this is not about just sitting around and waiting to see what happens episodes down the road. Ryan’s tortured soul is a part of the DNA of everything that happens, and he needs motivation to become obsessed with a new series of crimes.

Let’s just hope that this time around, there are no more lives lost in the process.
