‘Community’ season 6: Danny Pudi could return to NBC with new comedy pilot

The more that we analyze the behavior of the “Community” cast, the more and more one thing starts to become fairly clear: Many of the actors seem to be preparing for the future more so than they are thinking about the show getting a potential seventh season. Is the entire cast content with what they have, with potentially a movie being added at the end of the day? It’s possible.

What we know right now is that Danny Pudi, arguably the heart and soul of the show as Abed, is going to be a part of a prospective new NBC comedy series entitled “Strange Calls.” Here, he will be the male lead, a hotshot cop who thinks he is getting the shaft when he is transferred to a tiny town. However, there is a twist: This town is actually inhabited with all sorts of creepy, possibly supernatural stuff. This show is coming from the mind of Blake McCormick, who was ironically a writer on “Cougar Town.” Both Abed and Pudi famously visited the show, in different ways, of course.

What is most interesting about this news is how TVLine reports that if “Strange Calls” is ordered to series and so is “Community,” Pudi will star in the former. This comedy is actually in first position, which may come with the initial cast contracts for “Community” running for just six seasons.

We’ve already heard that another star of “Community” in Ken Jeong is developing a pilot on ABC. Meanwhile, Yvette Nicole Brown has also departed, and is appearing now on “The Odd Couple” in a regular capacity.
