‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Fargo’ alum joins ‘Chicago Med’ pilot

The cast for “Chicago Med” is starting to come together, and if this pilot ends up being ordered to series, it may actually have a pretty nice cast at its disposal.

According to a new report from Deadline, Oliver Platt of “Fargo” fame has joined the pilot, which is going to air during an episode of “Chicago Fire” season 3 airing a little later this spring. Specifically, he is going to be playing Dr. Daniel Charles, the “impressive” head of psychiatry. What is exciting to us about this character is that for the most part, this is a part of health care that tends to be routinely forgotten. That may not be the case so much anymore thanks to this particular show.

The cast for this show already features Laurie Holden of “The Walking Dead,” and NBC could make up their mind on “Chicago Med” at any point before the network upfronts in May. Right now, we feel cautiously optimistic. They may have a pretty solid show, but one other thing that you really do need to remember here is that they also have already “The Night Shift.” There is not necessarily a shortage of medical dramas, so they may end up picking and choosing based on quality more so than being a part of a franchise.

The cast for “Chicago Med” is still not finalized, so we may still find out about even more names in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for more on that!
