‘The Mentalist’ series finale spoilers: Jane and Lisbon’s unfinished business
Does it appear as though Jane and Lisbon are going to be getting married on Wednesday night’s series finale for “The Mentalist”? The attached photo seems to be pretty strong evidence of that.
While you can expect at least a few joyful moments over the course of the two hours ahead, these will be mixed with a variety of other emotions … including at times fear and anxiety. This is, after all, what happens when you also have the hunt for a serial killer known as Lazarus, which should test the FBI team in a way that they really haven’t since first coming together in season 6. Lazarus is a very smart opponent, and while Jane may be resourceful, there may be times where you wonder whether or not he can crack the case before even more victims fall.
Just in case you are wondering if the show is setting up some sort of crazy 11th-hour twists where Lazarus is someone you’ve already met, don’t think that way. Rather, creator Bruno Heller tells TVLine that we are looking at a totally new character here:
“It’s not someone you’ve met before … And as Robin [Tunney] pointed out to me, I don’t think we’ve done any other serial killers over the years as strongly as this one, except for Red John, so it’s very much a ‘full circle’ kind of event.”
The one thing that we hope for is that this killer is dispatched at least early enough for us to breathe, and really enjoy the wedding that we’ve been waiting for ever since the idea first surfaced that Jane and Lisbon could get together. While the weddings on “Bones” and “Castle” were nice enough, we wish we had more time to really dive into them.
