‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Will the Atom be more like Oliver Queen or Laurel Lance?
In just over a week, “Arrow” is finally going to give us a better sense as to how Ray Palmer will operate as a hero. The Atom costume will finally be upon us! While this is a glorious occasion worth celebrating, especially for fans of Brandon Routh, there is also something else right now that really needs to be remembered here: Ray is not trained to be a butt-kicker. As a matter of fact, we’re not entirely sure how many fights he’s been a part of over the course of his life.
With this in mind, one thing that we can say going into the rest of the season is that the suit is only going to do so much for the man. As executive producer Marc Guggenheim teases in a new Entertainment Weekly interview, there are many other facets of this that Ray is going to have to work out:
“He’s definitely a sloppy superhero in the sense of all of our characters don’t immediately have the easiest time fighting crime … I would say episode 19 really digs underneath what does it mean for Ray to be a hero. Is he a hero because of who he is? Or is he a hero because of the suit that he’s made?”
As of right now, we are more than happy to draw some of the comparisons between the Atom and the Black Canary, given that they both have a whole lot of ambition, but are maybe lacking still a few things when it comes to figuring out just how in the world this said ambition can actually be properly implemented in the real world.
