Who will determine Brian Williams’ punishment at NBC?

NBC -If you have been following the latest happenings of Brian Williams at NBC, then you are probably still waiting for another shoe to drop. Specifically, we are talking here about whether or not the network is going to decide to punish him further after it was revealed that he has inaccurately reported a story about himself in Iraq more than a decade ago to make it seem as though he was in greater danger than he was.

Yesterday, we reported that Williams himself had opted to take a brief leave from the NBC Nightly News, feeling as though he was becoming a distraction when the news is about telling other stories. With that being said, there was zero indication that he was planning to step down from his position, which he has held and succeeded in for many years. Until these revelations surfaced, we don’t think we’re going too far in saying that he may have been news’ most-beloved anchor. He had a great reputation of integrity, but also was unafraid of showing a lighter, funnier side away from the desk.

According to Deadline, Williams’ fate is now going to be in the hands of NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke, who will decide to punish or take him off the air for good. We do still feel that this is unlikely at the moment, but that could change in a matter of minutes depending on whether or not there are any other serious embellishments found in a lengthy review of the facts.

One thing that we do know is that every story that Williams has ever told is now going to be under investigation, which means that at times there could be a witch hunt mentality that forms. We do hope that people will put away their pitchforks until the whole truth is revealed.
