NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 8: New extended promo features Christina Aguilera
In a matter of a couple of short weeks now (think two weeks from Monday on February 23), “The Voice” season 8 will finally be here. Luckily, you do not have to wait nearly that long to see another extended preview from the new season!
The video below is what we would proclaim to be a rather excellent new trailer for the season, and it spends most of its time really highlighting one thing above anything else: Christina Aguilera is back on the panel. While there have been a few moments here and there that we have found her to be a little unlikable (that feud with her and Adam Levine seasons ago made both of them look bad), we do find her overall to be the best female coach that we’ve seen on the show. She is enthusiastic, she loves to perform, and she also seems really invested in trying to defeat the likes of Adam and Blake Shelton.
Ultimately, though, the thing that you have to continually remember about this show is that it really does not matter much in the end whether or not it is Christina, Adam, Blake, or one of the sharks from Katy Perry’s Halftime Show sitting in the spinning chairs. This show is really all about making sure that you have a good roster of contestants that are captivating to watch.
We’ve come around on the notion of whether or not this show needs a star, mostly because the ratings prove that it doesn’t. While it would be nice to see an alumni with a hit single somewhere, the truth here is that America does not typically vote for people they want to see have a career down the road; it’s more about who they like in the moment. So long as there are good singers and performers now, that’s all that really matters.
We’ll have so much more coverage of “The Voice” leading into the premiere, so stay tuned! Also, sign up right now to get some further news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
