Fox moves Emmys back to Sundays; all is sane in the world again

Last year, NBC did something that was quite frankly annoying when it came to their broadcast of the Primetime Emmy Awards; basically, they sent a message that to them, preseason NFL football was more important than airing the biggest night of honors for TV stars in America. It was most unfortunate, to say the least.

Luckily, Fox seems to be there for us to try to make things right today. The network announced that for their broadcast this year, they are going to get things going on Sunday, September 20. There is no host announced just yet, but we imagine that it will be someone who comes from within their programming block. We would not be shocked to see it be either Mindy Kaling or Andy Samberg; we may give Andy the edge for now, given that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has more of a future set in stone than “The Mindy Project.”

Timing-wise, the good thing about this show is that this comes literally a day before the start of the fall 2015 season. We like this tradition, which seems to happen anytime that NBC is not messing around with the show; it helps to close the door on one part of the year, and begin a new, exciting chapter.

While it is far too early to name many favorites for the show, we expect to see “The Affair,” “Better Call Saul,” and “Orange Is the New Black” as potential favorites during the show. “Homeland” could also make a little bit of a comeback, and our biggest darkhorse is Lee Pace of “Halt and Catch Fire,” whose star is rising due to “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
