‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Luther,’ more BBC series staying on Netflix, after all
For those deeply concerned over the future of many of your beloved BBC series on Netflix, perhaps this story will be a reason to breathe a little easier: Many of your beloved shows will not be going anywhere.
As we reported recently, there was concern that the end of a contract would mean that the streaming provider would lose such beloved properties as the original version of “The Office,” “Doctor Who,” and the slice of excellence known as “Luther.” Per Variety, Netflix has now confirmed that this will not happen. The majority of your beloved favorites, including the ones just mentioned alongside “Torchwood,” recent “Top Gear” episodes, the British “House of Cards,” and more, will all be staying put. Shows like “Happy Valley” and “Sherlock” were never going anywhere in the first place, so be relieved over that.
As for the somewhat-sadder news, you will still be saying goodbye to a few beloved favorites, including “Red Dwarf” and “Fawlty Towers,” which may very well be among our top five favorite comedies of all time. We suggest giving it a binge-watch if you haven’t already; there are only twelve episodes, and you can watch two a day and still not spend too much time in front of your favorite device.
We do still wonder in some ways how Netflix pulls off everything that they do. By this, we mean mostly that they manage to have such a wide array of programming options for what we still believe is a reasonable price. We do get outraged as much as anyone in fear of seeing a favorite leave, but there are about 400 hours of stuff we are still intending to watch.
