‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: Kevin Bacon teases big shift for Ryan Hardy
“The Following” season 3 may still be a good two months or so away from premiering on Fox, we we know already a thing or two about what we can expect. Namely, we’re speaking here mostly in terms of how Ryan Hardy is not going to be the same sort of man this time around that we saw in season 2.
What is the biggest difference? Think along the lines of how he is actually able to move forward with his personal and professional lives, rather than just dwell on some old problems such as Joe Carroll or old flames such as Claire. Speaking on theses subjects to The Hollywood Reporter, star Kevin Bacon did his best to chart out just what his character’s journey will be:
“Interestingly, he didn’t walk away from the FBI. Last season he wasn’t really back in; he was deputized temporarily. But now, he’s actually rejoined the FBI as a full-on employee. He’s also in a relationship finally with a woman that is the right woman for me — the woman. She’s not the wife of a serial killer or a serial killer herself or a journalist … and they get into a relationship that I don’t think Ryan ever really expected he could have. They’re going to co-habitate; it’s going to be a real relationship. The difference between the reboot of season two and season three is that in season three Ryan has really convinced himself that he’s OK and that he’s done with Joe and that he can open up his heart to this woman.”
Now, the worthy question is simple: How long can all of this last? Our guess is probably a few weeks, though it would be nice for Ryan to actually have something consistent that lasted the entire season for a change.
