‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Sia performs ‘Elastic Heart,’ ‘Chandelier’ with dancers, mimes
Tonight, “Saturday Night Live” brought out Sia for a performance as the musical guest, and it was definitely interesting … to say the least. She has become somewhat controversial for a number of reasons, and we figure that this performance of “Elastic Heart” is probably not going to do anything to change that reputation.
For those of you who are new to Sia’s artistic pursuits, she is never one to show her face during a performance. She personally prefers to stay anonymous, and comes up with a variety of unique ways to shield herself from the public eye. All of them are interesting, but also frustrating to some who wish she would just perform normally and leave the theatrics at home.
Meanwhile, there are also the interpretative dancers. What in the world is going on with them? It is her way of giving you some sort of emotional connection to her songs? Some of them are actually kinda cool, but the music video for this song came under fire for featuring Shia LeBeouf and an underage child. This performance was just all over the place, and while we love her singing voice, the dance was distracting.
The funny thing here is that for her second performance of the night in “Chandelier,” Sia was outstanding. Not only that, but the mime that she had with her for some reason got us genuinely emotional. We’re not sure that we have actually seen anything quite like it. We also liked that her voice broke at parts; this was a real, powerful vocal that didn’t need the help of a backing vocal or anything.

SIA. People trying desperately to stay in the limelight and in the money look for stranger and stranger gimmicks. Miley puts her hands down her pants and gives London an eyeful of her hiway to heaven (or hell), And Sia, 40 yrs. old this year (ancient in pop music) wears blinders. everybody talks about it, so it must work. Weird underage dancer, and a mime? Her vocal performance on Chandelier was gorgeous – though I couldn’t understand a word – stand by what you do, not all this stupid superficial crap. I was insulted by the first song- this singer wants so desperately for me to pay attention, yet she faces stage left? Uh-uh. SIA -stupid name-BTW, get a glove, get in the game1
Sia fan but WTF

I love Sia. But this just was a bad artistic choice, imo. The dancers looked really amateurish and just awkward. I felt embarrased for them.

I think they wasted Maddie Ziegler’s talent. The mime didn’t work for me and the choreography for Elastic Heart was way under par for Maddie.

The song chandelier was beautifully performed and the mime was so excellent that I’ve watched it over numerous times, his performance brought tears to my eyes! Wow!

I couldn’t understand one word of what she was singing and had to look up the lyrics…..I don’t get it! Dancers don’t bother me, at least it gave me something to watch cause I certainly couldn’t understand anything else!

I thought it was FANTASTIC! If you can’t see the story behind the dance and FEEL the relevance….feel free to change the channel
