‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Sia performs ‘Elastic Heart,’ ‘Chandelier’ with dancers, mimes

More news -Tonight, “Saturday Night Live” brought out Sia for a performance as the musical guest, and it was definitely interesting … to say the least. She has become somewhat controversial for a number of reasons, and we figure that this performance of “Elastic Heart” is probably not going to do anything to change that reputation.

For those of you who are new to Sia’s artistic pursuits, she is never one to show her face during a performance. She personally prefers to stay anonymous, and comes up with a variety of unique ways to shield herself from the public eye. All of them are interesting, but also frustrating to some who wish she would just perform normally and leave the theatrics at home.

Meanwhile, there are also the interpretative dancers. What in the world is going on with them? It is her way of giving you some sort of emotional connection to her songs? Some of them are actually kinda cool, but the music video for this song came under fire for featuring Shia LeBeouf and an underage child. This performance was just all over the place, and while we love her singing voice, the dance was distracting.

The funny thing here is that for her second performance of the night in “Chandelier,” Sia was outstanding. Not only that, but the mime that she had with her for some reason got us genuinely emotional. We’re not sure that we have actually seen anything quite like it. We also liked that her voice broke at parts; this was a real, powerful vocal that didn’t need the help of a backing vocal or anything.
