‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on casting Dahlia character

Just in case you were not excited enough about the future of “The Originals” season 2, maybe the presence of a super-intimidating character like Dahlia is going to be enough to do the trick.

We suppose the first thing that we should do here above all else is confirm that the character is in fact alive! There was some mystery surrounding this, and we are pleased to confirm that you have not seen the last of this character just yet. Per executive producer Julie Plec’s comments to Entertainment Weekly, there are ultimately a variety of reasons to look forward to seeing what the producers decide to do with casting this character, and how she will alter the life of Joseph Morgan’s Klaus in a big way:

“We’re so excited to see what kind of talent we can pull towards this role, because it’s juicy and meaty and [she’ll go] head-to-head with Klaus.”

Meanwhile, fellow EP Michael Narducci raises a number of interesting questions on his own when it comes to this character. For example, if Dahlia managed to figure out a way to make immortality happen, does this mean that Freya is also still out there? If nothing else, “The Originals” is leaving itself open to a few surprises here and there, and you have to appreciate that.

Monday night marks the return of the series to The CW, and we suppose that the first order of business there is really finding a way to ensure that Klaus and Hayley are able to adjust to having Baby Hope in their lives once again.
