‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ reveals September premiere date
CBS has many goals at their TCA panel today, and one of them seems to be making certain everyone knows when “The Late Show” is going to undergo its final bit of creative change.
Well, we are now here with the answer. “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” will officially premiere on Tuesday, September 8, which means that it will be on the air as soon as Labor Day is over. Stephen has already departed “The Colbert Report” to prepare for this show, and luckily, he will have some time to test things out and configure just what is right for this particular show. As network president Nina Tassler said at the event in California, one of the biggest advantages that he has right now is that most of the same team from his old show will be coming with him to the new one:
“He’s got almost all of his creative team from The Colbert Report coming to work with him … There will be music on the show [plus] he certainly will have guests on the show.”
Colbert is still figuring out whether or not he will have a traditional monologue. While that is a staple of the majority of the shows that are out there, he is also not a traditional comedian. Therefore, this leaves him with some important decisions that he will need to make over time.
“The Late Show with David Letterman” will officially conclude its time on CBS come Wednesday, May 20, and this show is going to be possibly proceeded by a series of specials. The network is in talks with Dave to find out the best way to make his retirement a worthy one.
