‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ ‘Dexter’ alum snags role

Agents of SHIELD -For those who love to see some great genre stars on “Agents of SHIELD,” you have to consider this news to be all sorts of tremendous.

According to a new report from Marvel, Edward James Olmos, you you probably know best either for his work on “Battlestar Galactica” or from “Dexter,” has been brought on board the ABC series for at least one episode as Robert Gonzales, a man who could bring with him “massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.” Well, that certainly does not sound particular great, now does it? To think, SHIELD probably had enough trouble already courtesy of the events of the winter finale, and trying to recover from the Whitehall crisis.

While there are still many details to be revealed here, at the moment we are simply just grateful to even have this. After all, Marvel is not exactly well-known for giving many details on some of their roles in advance, and this is actually a little bit more than what we are typically given. Olmos is certainly accomplished, and should bring some power and mystery to the part.

The show will return to the network on Tuesday, March 3 with new episodes, and it will follow up the “Agent Carter” event series. That series premiered early this week to decent ratings, but by the time it is over, the network could be in a position where they are ready to have Coulson and company back. After all, the “Agent Carter” ratings are still in flux, while “Agents of SHIELD” at least managed to level off.
