‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 trailer to be featured in IMAX screening

Game of Thrones -We knew that “Game of Thrones” had a very cinematic quality to it, and now, we’re getting further proof courtesy of what is going on with the show and IMAX.

HBO announced this week that for an upcoming limited engagement starting on January 23, and it will include a screening of two season 4 episodes. (Personally, we hope that it’s the last two, given that they seem to be the most ripe for the big-screen treatment.) Not only that, but this will also be a chance to see the season 5 trailer, coming later this month, in as grand a fashion as possible.

This is obviously not an event designed to force anyone into going, and HBO doesn’t really need the money for a show that has made Scrooge McDuck levels of cash already. This feels like yet another promotional tool to get people talking about the series long before it premieres, and by our estimation, this is almost always a good thing. Granted, it’s not like anyone was forgetting that “Game of Thrones” was coming up. Remember that this is the most-watched show in the history of the network!

There still is not a confirmed premiere date for the new season, but if we were to take a guess at the moment, we’d say that come late March or early April, you will be seeing Jon Snow, Arya, and the rest of the characters on the small screen again. We also wouldn’t be shocked if that is when HBO decides to launch their a la carte HBO Go service, since they want as many legal viewers of the show as possible.
