‘Parks and Recreation’ season 7 spoilers: The importance of more Rashida Jones

When the seventh season of “Parks and Recreation” premieres on NBC early next year, you will see that there were ultimately many goals that the writers / producers have in mind.

What is one of them? Trying to figure out how to ensure that Ann Perkins gets another worthy send-off before it all ends. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Mike Schur did his part to make it clear just how important Rashida Jones is to the series, and how the entire final season could not be done properly if she was not back in some capacity:

“The entire series is predicated on Ann Perkins coming to a small public forum and complaining about something in her neighborhood … That was literally the design of the show, and it just wouldn’t have felt right if we didn’t have Ann back in one episode, at least. I’m really happy that it all worked out.”

Schur also says that when you see Jones again, you’ll get a good chance to see just what she has been up to over the past few years since the character was last around. It is fairly easy to forget, but due to that time jump that we had at the end of season 6 to when Leslie’s children are a little older, we are going to be seeing characters in a much different place than we remember them. Hopefully, for many of them it will be a place where they are going to be relatively happy and successful.
