‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Could a feature film follow TV series?
While we know that there is going to be a sixth season of “Downton Abbey,” the notion of whether or not it is the final year of the show is something that has been discussed.
As a matter of fact, we probably have stated already that we believe genuinely there is a reason to end the show, and that is that you don’t want to see something as great as this series end with a whimper. Instead, you want to see it end as popular as it is now (a la “Seinfeld”), and some exciting moments that really make you want to chat with your friends about.
Apparently, a film that goes beyond the TV series is something that has been discussed among the masterminds behind the show. Just see what actress Raquel Cassidy (Baxter) had to say in a new interview with the Mirror:
“There have been talks and there is definitely a possibility of a Downton film.”
Ultimately, we don’t necessarily feel like all TV shows need to be movies, and we feel like “Downton Abbey” doesn’t need to hit the silver screen. Why would you pay for something that is already excellent at what they do on TV? Why not just make more TV? We feel like all the show would be doing is setting itself up for a fall, since it is not like they are going to suddenly spruce up the show more with some added special effects. These days, it takes a lot to get people to shell out big bucks to go to the cinema.
