‘Homeland’ season 5 debate: Did controversial end make you nervous about future?

Last night, Showtime waved goodbye to “Homeland” season 4, and did so in an extremely controversial fashion with an episode that was slow-moving, and suggested the one thing that nobody really wants to see: Carrie and Saul with completely different distinctions of right and wrong.

As we said in our review last night, we actually thought the finale was outstanding. However, we’re not so egocentric as to think that our opinion is the right one, or the only one that matters. Since we know that we are in the clear minority on this based on polls and internet reactions elsewhere, let’s ask this question now: Does the end of this season impact the way you watch “Homeland” moving into season 5?

The issue that this show runs into right now is viewer forgiveness, since there were many frustrated with the show after a subpar third season, debating whether or not they wanted to watch again. The ratings dropped as a result, but rose slightly throughout season 4, as more and more rave reviews and awards nominations started to come in for Claire Danes and company. Many were proclaiming that the show was back!

Now that the finale has disappointed many, does this change? This is a little different than some shows that happen to have a bad episode here and there. It is a Showtime product, and one that requires a subscription to watch. If you are paying good money sometimes for only a show or two, you really want them to be fantastic.
