‘The Originals’ season 2, episode 9 reaction: What’s next for Claire Holt’s Rebekah?

Rebekah -Tonight’s midseason finale for “The Originals” was all sorts of crazy. There is definitely no disputing that.

Now, we have to wonder what some of the ramifications for some of these moves are. We know clearly that Esther is still going to be around in some form after Kol and Klaus made their decision. Meanwhile, we also know that we are going to have a chance to figure out what Elijah and Hayley’s romantic tryst means in the context of the larger series.

So what is the real mystery right now? It mostly revolves around the issue of Rebekah being transported into another body, where she is going to be located for a while. Does this mean that Claire Holt is gone from the show? Not exactly. As executive producer Michael Narducci explains to TVLine, Rebekah’s body was not destroyed, so that possibility always exists. (Personally, we feel like Holt’s future could depend on if she plays Supergirl.)

Meanwhile, Narducci explained just what is going to happen now with Rebekah, and how much danger she is putting herself in by swapping bodies:

“Putting Rebekah into another body is a great instance of ‘be careful what you wish for.’ Now that she’s no longer in her original immortal body — that strong, fast body that can endure anything — she’s just a mortal witch. She’s got a whole new set of powers, but she’s not immortal anymore. If she’s stabbed or killed, will that be the end of Rebekah? And will this Faustian deal be worth it to her? That’s one of the things we really want to explore.”
