‘Call the Midwife’ season 4 spoilers: Christmas Special trailer contains Shelagh drama, more

Shelagh -We are now under three weeks away from the “Call the Midwife” Christmas Special, and based on the sneak-peek clip that was released this weekend by the BBC, there are going to be some challenging times ahead for the characters of Nonnatus House and beyond.

For example, be prepared for some highs and lows for Shelagh as she tries to get used to her and Dr. Turner having a new infant in the family. While at times she will be very happy with the new arrival, don’t necessarily expect everything to be perpetually rosy for the character.

As for Chummy and everyone else, we do expect there to be some humor and a few lighthearted moments. After all, you have to remember that this is the Christmas Special we are talking about here! Unless you are “Downton Abbey” and want to have a Dan Stevens debacle tha depresses fans for a rather long time, we do not quite see the value in making this episode all that depressing. Even in the case of Downton, it is not like they had a whole lot of other choices other than killing off Matthew a little bit earlier.

This special in the end should be best thought of as a nice little diversion, and something to really tide you over and then some until season 4 proper begins early next year. We’ll have some further news on that soon, so be on the lookout!
