‘The X Factor’ UK: Does Stereo Kicks, Lauren Platt, Fleur East have shot at post-show career?

Stereo Kicks -

Today, the final five become four on “The X Factor,” and there is only one more performance show for all of these contestants before they arrive at what will be the grand finale for this season.

Before we come to that, though, there is another question that has to be asked here: Are we going to hear from any of these people after their time on the show is through? After all, the main purpose of this show is seemingly to find stars, and the record here in recent years is rather mixed. Little Mix is the only winner of the past several years to still be a prominent force in the industry; James Arthur has already been dropped, and Sam Bailey has not exactly been all over the headlines.

We’ll at least give this season some credit in saying that out of the remaining acts, at least there are some with some commercial viability. For example, Stereo Kicks could become a reasonably popular boy band; we don’t see them as the next One Direction, but they could have a couple of successful songs and tour in the UK for a few years.

For the other acts, it’s all about the songs. We don’t see Andrea Faustini or Ben Haenow being big stars in the years ahead, and Fleur East may have an outside chance if she gets a couple of amazing tracks that become pop hits.

The biggest wild card here is Lauren Platt. If she was thrown out into the industry and forced to make an album immediately, we don’t know how she would do. If she is given the Ella Henderson treatment, though, there could be some big things that come from here.

Ultimately, we’ll have to see where the journey goes after the show airs, and obviously, whoever is declared the winner will benefit the most.
