2014 AMAs: One Direction, Iggy Azalea, Enrique Iglesias among winners

Ready to get some news that is probably the least surprising ever? Well, One Direction won an American Music Award tonight!

In reality, this show on ABC feels like one of the most predictable of any of the major award shows, mostly because the people in attendance are almost always the ones who end up winning. Also, it’s not the Grammys, so you very rarely get the sort of dramatic upset that you would really hope for.

This list is going to be updated live throughout the night with reaction, so stay tuned for more.

Pop / Rock Artist – One Direction. Shocker! Not really. Even the speech was almost note for note what we expected.  They won three awards on the night in total, and that included the big one at the end.

Rap Album – Iggy Azalea, “The New Classic.” This is the first award that Iggy has ever received, and we imagine we’ll be seeing a lot of her at these shows over the next few years. She also won an award for rap artist.

Latin Artist – Enrique Iglesias. Pitbull announced the honor during the show.

Male Pop / Rock Artist – Sam Smith. Here’s another man we are going to be seeing a whole lot more from over the next few months at awards shows.

New Artist – 5 Seconds of Summer. No shock there.

Male Country Artist – Luke Bryan.

Favorite Female Artist, Pop / Rock – Katy Perry. Was a big night for Katy, given that she had a Super Bowl announcement elsewhere.
