‘Shark Tank’ preview: Earthlog, Magic Cook, Kitchen Safe, Off the Cob chips, Tipsy Elves, and Nick Woodman
Friday night’s “Shark Tank” is certainly going to be eventful, given that not only do we have four new products plus an update, but also a guest shark! Nick Woodman will be replacing Robert Herjavec this week, and will be present to take on a variety of different products. The interesting thing about this week’s group (which you can see below) is that there are no obvious duds. All of them bring something to the table, even if none are necessarily a slam dunk.
Woodman is the Founder and CEO of GoPro, and he’s got plenty of cash and assets to bring to the table. Will that be enough to make him enticing to the sharks? We shall see; for now, you can just check out the episode’s synopsis below:
“GoPro Founder and CEO Nick Woodman is a Guest Shark in this action-packed episode. Pitches include a farmer from Ithaca, NY who presents a healthier tortilla chip made from fresh picked sweet corn; and a man from Huntington Beach, CA wants to make some green while burning some green with his scented, manufactured fire logs. Also, an update on Evan Mendelsohn and Nick Morton from San Diego, CA and their Tipsy Elves ugly Christmas sweater company, which Robert Herjavec invested in during Season 5.”
Now, here are the products to be featured.
Earthlog – We like the product a good deal: The world’s greenest log, which burns well and produces less smoke than the standard fire log. The only downside is that they do cost a little more than some other logs we’ve seen on our shopping online, so the product really needs to have a benefit beyond just being green to appeal to the average, non-environmentally-conscious, consumer.
Kitchen Safe – Probably a good product, but also a pretty cruel one since you basically store items in the safe, set the timer, and it locks until the timer goes off. Maybe it works for some people, but what if there’s an emergency and you need whatever is in there? We feel like there are other solutions to this sort of problem.
Magic Cook – We like the idea of the product: It’s something that helps you cook food wherever you are! The problem is a simple one: Is it solving an issue? We suppose it is valuable in some circumstances for small meals. It at least has a decent shot at an investment.
Off the Cob Tortilla Chips – This product (made with sweet corn) sounds tasty, and we love tortilla chips. The sell for us would be that these need to get into stores nationwide, since we’d have to try them without making a big purchase somewhere else. Maybe a shark can help with that, depending on everything that is presented in the tank.
We’ll be back tomorrow with another video preview / our review, which you’ll be able to see at the link here. For now, be sure to sign up to get some other TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo via ABC.)
