‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder’s Damon, Nina Dobrev’s Elena, and Christmas

The tenth episode of “The Vampire Diaries” season 6 is going to have a holiday theme to it, but it’s probably going to be one of the stranger overall episodes that we see, based on some of the details that we’ve heard.

Why do we say this? It’s specifically a reference to the notion that there will be many flashbacks throughout the hour, ones that go back to when some of the main characters were still in high school. The silver lining here? It’s at least an opportunity for some of you to see Bonnie again interacting with other people beyond crazy Kai.

For those who hate flashbacks, don’t fret; it also looks like we’re going to see some footage in the present, as well, and that includes getting a big moment for Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev to play. This news comes courtesy of executive producer Julie Plec, who passed along this small tease recently to E! News:

“There may be some hanging mistletoe in Damon and Elena’s future … Whether or not they kiss underneath it remains to be seen.”

So there you have it … great news? Well, maybe. We do feel like this show is eventually going to take us down the road that leads to the two characters getting together and staying that way, but it does not like to make things easy. The biggest issue right now is that Elena cannot remember their whole history, and therefore does not have her heart in it the same way that Damon does.
