‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Yasuf Gatewood promoted to regular as Finn / Vincent
Clearly, The CW wants to do just about everything that it can to look in as many members of the Mikaelson family as possible on “The Originals” this season. Even though Claire Holt is now only recurring, we still have Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies as regulars. Now, you can add Yasuf Gatewood to the mix.
While Gatewood is not the original actor in the role of Finn, the revival of the character in Vincent’s body has made this member of the family so much more interesting than he was through most of “The Vampire Diaries,” where he was killed off pretty early and did not have much of a chance to shine.
This news was confirmed by “Originals” executive producer Julie Plec, who said the following to Entertainment Weekly:
“We’re thrilled to announce that Yusuf Gatewood has been promoted to series regular as of this winter … In addition to his incredible talent, he has been a joy to work with—committed, passionate, professional, kind and inspiring. We’re honored to have him as part of the family.”
While this announcement is official, there is still no word on just what the future holds for Kol. Right now, the modern, body-swapped version of the character is played by Daniel Sharman, but there is also a large contingent of fans out there who love and prefer the Nathaniel Buzolic version. Despite what happened to Kol on “The Vampire Diaries, we would never rule out a return of this version of the character on the show … mostly because it feels at this point almost like a mistake to rule out anything or anyone.
