‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 7 preview: Caterina Scorsone on Amelia’s past and present
Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” is most likely going to succeed once again at having a whole lot going on, but at the center of most of it will be Amelia.
In many way, you should consider this story to be a coming-out party for Caterina Scorsone’s character, though the irony here is that she had six seasons of this over at “Private Practice.” Her addiction history is going to come to light in this story, and what is interesting about this is that it will bring some reminders in of that story for those who watched the Shonda Rhimes spin-off series; however, at the same time it is also going introduce the character to people who are not as familiar with her.
Scorsone set up this storyline in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, where she made it pretty clear that while Amelia may have a good life for her now, she has to atone with everything else before she can enjoy it:
“Amelia has left a great deal of her life behind in L.A. … She’s established herself at the hospital as the head of neurosurgery. She’s got this really sweet life that she’s set up. In this episode, her anonymity is severely compromised. A lot of stuff that she thought she had left behind is thrown into her present.”
Ultimately, we do have confidence still that there are many great stories ahead for Amelia, but many of them may take a little bit of time to rise to the surface. Take, for example, a possible romance. We’re not ruling any of this out.
