ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, and ‘Bad Santa’ details

Why has ABC released official details on the “Castle” holiday episode before some of the other ones before it? From what we can figure out, the biggest reason is just to continue to push the special episodes coming up in December, which also serve in part as their midseason finales.

We’re not going to complain too much about this, though, since it is always better to have some scoop on an episode early than no scoop at all. “Bad Santa” is the title for the last episode of the year for the show, and this was at one point entitled “Have Yourself a Mobster Little Christmas.” The synopsis below actually is pretty informative, since it gives Castle and Beckett something specific to do, while also proving all of those Lanie – Esposito stories to be true:

“When an ER physician is gunned down in the street, Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) soon discover that the victim was a mob doctor to a Mafia family run by an old friend of Castle’s. Also, against this backdrop of Christmas, Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Lanie (Tamala Jones) reach a defining moment in their relationship.”

There are two quick reactions we have to reading this.

1. With Castle and Beckett married, we would not be too shocked to see Lanie and Esposito suddenly in the spotlight a whole lot more as their relationship progresses.
2. Meanwhile, this mob story may be in a way tied to what happened to Castle at the end of last season, and the first two episodes of the show this time. There have already been suggestions that we’d see a few hints in this episode.
