‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: What Lola Saunders, Ben Haenow, Fleur East, Stereo Kicks will sing
Saturday night’s “X Factor” UK performance show is set amidst the background of Halloween songs, and the first thing that we are happy to report is actually rather simple: Not all of these songs are particularly terrifying song choices. We’re pretty happy with them.
With that being said, these artists still have to go out and perform them with some killer instinct. That is something that has been rather lacking over the course of the past few weeks.
Stevi Ritchie, “Music of the Night” – This is seriously going to happen, and it will probably be a mess … maybe. Take a look at the video below featuring Stevi performing this song below. He really can sing! It is from a very long time ago, though.
Jack Walton, “Bleeding Love” – Remember when Leona was the biggest singing star from the show? Well, this is a song that Jack really can do something with.
Paul Akister, “Bat Out of Hell” – Love the choice. It’s different than anything else he has done, and Meat Loaf is such an iconic, interesting singer.
Andrea Faustini, “Relight My Fire” – This is one of the more bizarre choices. We are happy to see Andrea doing something upbeat, but isn’t this song a little too camp for him?
Lola Saunders, “Crazy” – A great song choice. It’s different than what she’s done yet again, and with the right staging, this could be all sorts of wonderful.
Lauren Platt, “Dark Horse” – Broken record here, but this is another song that really could be done amazingly in the right hands. It’s all about getting that passion and intensity out there. She’ll need Cheryl to teach her that intensity, and fast.
Only the Young, “Monster Mash” – This sounds cheesy, but like with Stevi, this is a song that the group has a history with. Take a look at their cover for it below.
Stereo Kicks, “Everybody” – A good song choice from early in the Backstreet Boys’ career, but how in the world is this a Halloween song? Here’s a hint: It’s really not.
Ben Haenow, “Highway to Hell” – It’s first of all amazing that an AC/DC song was cleared for a singing competition. Good luck trying to make it authentic on this stage.
Jay James, “Mad World” – We’re not really for too many people doing this song (Adam Lambert and Tears for Fears are hard to top), but if you can separate Jay’s rendition from those, he has a voice that is unique enough to pull the emotion out of this song.
Fleur East, “Thriller” – One of the biggest pop songs of all time. If done well, people will love you; if done wrong, they’ll never forgive you. Risky choice.

Simon Cowell once said Adam Lambert’s Mad World is the most memorable of all American Idol performances. James shouldn’t risk going there, because he’s just going to be compared to Adam, and we all know how that conversation is going to go.

The music video for “Everybody” had a Halloween theme.
