‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Paul Wesley returns to direct

After watching the “Vampire Diaries” episode “Resident Evil” earlier this year, Paul Wesley proved himself as a more-than-capable TV director. This is a time-consuming job, and just because you are good at playing a character on a show doesn’t mean that you can handle another job to go along with it. For a production company to even give you the chance is a huge leap of faith, and they want to see proof that you are willing to work hard.

Paul put it in the time for years prior to getting the chance last season, and clearly, all parties liked what they saw enough to give him another go at things. As Wesley confirmed today on Instagram, he is going to be directing yet another episode of the show this year, and we wouldn’t be shocked that if there is a season 7, he will be around yet again in this role for an episode.

Given the timing of this announcement, we imagine that Paul will probably see this installment air early next year. It is definitely a chance to flex a few of your muscles in the skill, and hopefully, that will lead to some other chances down the road in the event you don’t want to act that much anymore.

What Paul is doing with these gigs, in addition to his producing work away from the show, is getting a great resume for the future. These skills help him on “The Vampire Diaries,” and they could help long after it is over.
