‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Instant elimination could hit Jack Walton, Only the Young, Stevi Ritchie
Tomorrow, “The X Factor” is doing something particularly scary with their better-late-than-never Halloween show: They are employing a twist to better ensure that the maximum number of viewers end up watching live.
The twist here basically goes as such: The person with the lowest votes throughout Saturday’s show leaves. That is it. There’s no real time for a recovery period for them. There are some stories out there in the media right now about how this may be the byproduct of terrible sing-offs lately, but we see this as a little more of something that was in the works for a long time. You need to still have more double-eliminations to compensate for starting with 16 contestants, and you don’t want to do them late in the season when you have real contenders.
It is hard to determine right now who are the most-likely candidates to be sent home without even hearing them perform, but we would be most worried about Jack Walton, Only the Young, Stereo Kicks, or Stevi Ritchie. Stevi may end up being safe despite a weaker performance vocally; we just have a feeling that if he is going to leave the show, it will be as a result of a sing-off showdown that he just so happens to not win.
The one thing you have to remember through it all here is that just about anything can happen. It would not be a shock at all to see one of the stronger contestants go home just because they have an off night or just don’t get the votes. The sing-off is not going to be there as a security blanket for many of them.
