‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 5 preview: Can Damon and Bonnie trust Kai?

We are a few episodes right now into the sixth season of “The Vampire Diaries,” but even still, we are still in a situation that has Damon and Bonnie still apart from the rest of the gang.

We have to say right now that when it comes to the story as a whole, this all sounds tremendously exciting. We do love Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham’s characters, and we thought we’d be hating the story with them away from the others. Yet, we respect the bold move by the storytellers, and it really does inform how these two characters operate to force them away from their respective security blankets and friends.

In the sneak peek below, it looks like there could be a glimmer of hope for the two to finally be near their loved ones again, but there is a catch. Suddenly, Kai has to go from public enemy (and only enemy) #1 from someone they can trust. Bonnie has to figure out if she can cast the right spell, and then and maybe then, they can get back.

While Damon is surprisingly optimistic about getting to go back and see Elena (wait until he finds out about what she has been up to), Bonnie is actually the one feeling rather pessimistic right now. She doubts Kai smartly as someone to trust, and wonders if there is really a way for them to get back using any suggestion from him.

One way or another, the ultimate truth here is still the same: We’re going to be finding out some answers very soon.
