TLC wins big with ’19 Kids and Counting’ episode all about Jill Duggar’s wedding
There are a few things that tend to really be huge ratings warriors for TLC: Weddings, and anything related to the Duggar family. So what happens when you combine the two? Basically, it is the equivalent of some heads exploding.
For their wedding episode of “19 Kids and Counting” last night, which featured Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard tying the knot, the show drew a record 4.4 million viewers. This is the best broadcast for the show by a decent margin, and it shows that the more Duggars that marry, the more that TLC will be happy to put some of these things on the air. The good news for them? There are still plenty of Duggars!
While the family may follow the beliefs that they do out of respect for their religion, there is no doubt that this is in part a big reason for the show’s popularity. For example, would this wedding be anything near as popular in the event that the bride and groom had kissed each other previously, or spent time in a relationship that did not require a chaperone? It is some of these methods that spark so much attention with the family, and this, along with the 19 children, are the biggest reasons why the show does so well on the air.
The real question we wonder is how long this series could last, and the answer to that feels almost like forever, depending on how long the family wants it. Since many of the older children are now starting families, you still have that element of the equation intact. Plus, TLC needs something good to talk about right now.
