‘Elementary’ season 3 premiere spoilers: Holmes tells Watson where he belongs (video)

In just a matter of a few short days from now, “Elementary” will be back on CBS! What does this mean? Ultimately a variety of things, but most importantly an opportunity to see some more great scenes featuring Sherlock and Watson yet again.

When the series returns Thursday night, though, you are not going to see the same exact story that you saw when it last aired. One major difference right away is merely that Sherlock is returning from London, and he finds Joan doing most of the work on her own that the two were previously known for. The teacher has taught the student well! Of course, she also brings some other tricks to the trade, and does so without some of the quirks.

So why did Sherlock come back home at all? This is what Lucy Liu’s character asks him in the latest sneak peek video below from the episode, and his reply is simple, and yet at the same time poignant: This is where he feels like belongs. He does have at least a network of people around him in the Big Apple, and early on during this season, he is going to have the help of another colleague in Kitty Winter. She has spent some time with him as his #2 in London, and it’s not a big surprise that he would convince her to come over with him here. After all, isn’t this a good opportunity for him to ensure he has someone?
