CBS All Access will carry affiliate links; good news for ‘Big Brother 17’ season

CBS -We wanted to pass along an update-of-sorts to what we wrote yesterday about the CBS All Access app released now by CBS, mostly because it does have such a big impact in the internet TV community, especially to many “Big Brother” fansites who join us in covering the show every summer.

We’ve now heard officially that the network will continue to use an affiliate program to help promote subscriptions to their app, which works at present with computers, tablets, and smartphones. This basically means that those who sell “Big Brother” live feeds online will be able to continue to pull in affiliate income, which is key for some out there who monetize their summer watching live feeds with this income.

Also, this means to us that CBS is committed to this service long-term, and is not going to just be abandoning this at some point in the near future if things struggle to get off of the ground. We’ve actually reversed our position on this somewhat since we first heard about it. While it not being on smart TVs at the moment is a big negative, it will get there someday. Plus, being able to live stream your local CBS station, in select markets for now, is a big selling point, as is getting to go back and re-watch all former seasons of “Survivor” and some other classic shows.

Also, for all those who subscribe to the live feeds in the summer, you’re going to basically get so much more content here for roughly the same price. This means that if the feeds are ever slow for a day, you can go back and watch some classic episodes of the show instead.

We’ll have some further updates on this and so much more in the new future. For now, stay tuned, and head over here to get some further TV updates via email per our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo via CBS.)
