TV Quick Hits: Nick Cannon on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’; ‘Homeland’ season 4 news; ‘Manhattan’ renewed
Nick Cannon joins “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” – Cannon always seems to have a million things going on, but the latest is joining the Fox comedy in a recurring role. He will reportedly play Marcus, the good-looking and sharp nephew of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher). You will first seem him in an episode this December.
We know that Cannon has become a bit of a tabloid fixture, but he does have some serious comedy chops and is talented. Hopefully, this gig gets him back a little bit to some of those roots.
“Manhattan” renewed – WGN America doesn’t have a large slate of original shows right now, but they have gone ahead and given the green light for a second season of this show about the nuclear age.
This is a smart decision for a number of reasons. Quality-wise, this is one of the better shows out there, and to go along with that, this network is setting a good reputation as one that will give shows time to find an audience. They are doing the same thing right now with “Salem.” Other networks (see: A&E, who got rid of “Those Who Kill” in the blink of an eye) should take notice.
“Homeland” tease – Finally, how about another little preview on what lies ahead for the Showtime drama? The sixth episode has the cool title of “From A to B and Back Again,” and the premise of this will revolve around a complicated plan that Carrie finally opts to put into motion. Let’s just say that this may be one of the most action-packed episodes to date. It’s not the biggest spoiler, but we’re still happy to have it.
