‘The X Factor’ notes: Chloe Jasmine, Stevi Ritchie, and Simon Cowell’s boasting
We have a few different things to discuss today pertaining to “The X Factor,” but we have to start here with what we personally consider to be the most absurd: Simon Cowell proclaiming that Fox gave up on the American version of the show too quickly.
In an interview at Mipcom conducted by his longtime friend and former “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan, Simon proclaimed that there is still life for this series somehow, and he believes that he could get it back on the air again at one point:
“The one thing I do know because I work in the music business, is that X Factor is the best music format in the world and it only takes one artist, whether it’s a Susan Boyle or a One Direction, and the whole thing turns on its head. So I haven’t given up on X Factor America yet.”
We’ll give Simon credit that when it comes to producing the best potential stars right now, the show’s high on the list. However, the reason the show bombed in America is because the judges were terrible (Paulina Rubio, Britney Spears), the hosts were boring, there was nothing original about the format, and there are too many singing shows. Also, the ratings were abysmal. This is why Fox gave up, even if their ratings are not any better with any other shows on the air this fall.
Stevi Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine? – If you see any stories about this two getting “romantic” with each other, feel free to laugh at whoever is writing them. These two current contestants on the British show were the subject of a joke by Jake Quickenden (per the Mirror), who claimed that they were getting their flirt on.
Still, if this actually happened, it may be the most unlikely romance in the history of reality TV.
