‘Better Call Saul’: Dean Norris explains feelings on continuing ‘Breaking Bad’ legacy
Norris specifically made the following comments to ScreenCrush about the show, and explained why he was so hesitant:
“You know, I’m such a big fan of ‘Breaking Bad.’ So, I thought it was the perfect show and I thought it ended perfectly and to just kind of mess with that in any way, what’s the upside? You have to make another perfect show, you know?”
Ultimately, we feel like the advantage to this is just getting an opportunity to provide some fan service, to dive deeper into a fascinating character, and to continue to allow the New Mexico crew to work hard on a series that they can be proud of.
With all of this being said, we do simultaneously understand a little bit of where Norris is coming from here in that “Breaking Bad” has set a bar that is impossibly high, and “Better Call Saul” will be judged based on that. There will probably be many out there who hate it just because Bryan Cranston’s not in every scene.
