NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Have some fun with Pharrell, Gwen Stefani

If there was one highlight of the first week of “The Voice” to us, it was Pharrell. Not only is the guy incredibly knowledgeable musically, but he killed it when it came to recruiting people to his team. He has such a humble quality to him where he doesn’t really need to stand on his chair or act a fool in order to make people like him; instead, all he really needs to do is smile and explain what he is bringing to the table.

The NBC show has yet to really release any sneak peeks of contestants from Monday’s show, so what we have instead here is a sneak peek of some of the fun between Pharrell and fellow newcomer Gwen Stefani. There is a lovefest going on between the two, and that should hardly be a surprise to anyone who knows the two parties pretty well. Pharrell and Gwen have a history of working together, and they both likely feel a little kindred coming out of them being the newcomers.

There are still many contestants coming up, so let’s just hope that somewhere in the batch ahead, we’re going to see someone who can become a genuine star. This show really needs someone new from the world of pop who can light up the charts; when you look at its winners so far, you’ve got four adult-contemporary artists, and then two country singers. (One of them, admittedly, was at first a rocker before rebranding.) We’ll have to see what happens.
