‘MasterChef’ season 5 finale spoilers: The final test; plus, we predict the winner!
Next week, the journey on “MasterChef” is finally going to be at an end, and there will only be one winner.
We have to start this article, though, with a generous dose of honesty: We feel like going from three home cooks to two is going to be one of the most predictable eliminations ever. Most people at this point probably want to see a showdown between Elizabeth and Courtney, who have dominated most of the season. We’re one of the biggest Leslie fans out there, given that he has been great entertainment and also a pretty solid cook most of the way through the season. However, it seems like time, and if it is a close race between the three, the overall competition will probably be taken into consideration.
So if Leslie is the likely third-place-finisher, who is probably going to be the winner at the end of this? That is an interesting question in its own right, but if we had to pinpoint someone right now, we’d lean mostly towards Courtney. Her record overall has been just as strong, and she has probably received the more favorable edit without really anything negative in there at all. We feel like this show especially loves to have a winner where you can completely get behind them and cheer them on, and you can probably do that here.
What we really just want more than anything else in the finale is plenty of competition, and for a race that is obviously close. We know that the edit will make it appear that way regardless, but it is nice if there is some genuine tension thrown in there.

My favorites are Courtney and Leslie hands down. Both are great cooks.

My boyfriend and I have pool going for the remaining contestants. My only “player” left is Courtney.. (She was originally my first pick to win because when we chose our contestants, she was by far the strongest in the competition). Now, i’m thinking Elizabeth will take it. I think she can outsmart Courtney and keep her head in place. If Leslie ends up making it into the bottom 2 i’ll be extremely surprised. If he didn’t keep partnering up with Elizabeth, he would have been gone 4 episodes ago.. The loser of our pool buys dinner.. GO COURTNEY

I would cheer on for Leslie, he s bold and knows what he wants and i think that s a good quality for a great chef to have.

I can’t abide Courtney, she is smug and self centered. Just plain nasty on occasion. Elizabeth is fairly sour faced too when not getting the judges praise. At the end of the day the show is as much about selling merchandise as viewing figures (every second shot has a Masterchef knife or pan in it), and I would perhaps consider buying the after season cook book if it came from Leslie. Definitely not if either Courtney or Elizabeth wrote it.

I think that Courtney is a complete fake as Christian commented early in season, and I haven’t seen that she prepared anything ‘so special’ in these 17 episodes. Like Ahran, for example. She plays it safe, on the Italian side so Joe never even tries to use his ironic approach. I live in Italy btw, and it’s nice to see that Italian cooks make the difference, but she made nothing really exotic (like Luka did last year), nothing interesting to see – I guess she knows ‘how to put it on a plate’.. She had her fare share of ‘not so great dishes’ (even this one last, with Elisabeth). And we already know that Elisabeth will stab some kittens if Courtney wins, so here we are almost at their final to see it happen, or not..
And I hope Leslie will publish his own cookbook, I’d like to make some of his recipes. He at least, said it like he felt it all the way through the top 3. Most of competitors didn’t like it, but 6 pressure tests mean something. As in everything, you need some luck to win Masterchef, be in a team that doesn’t lose to avoid pressure tests proved to be crucial here. We saw Jamie, Daniel and Willie arrive late in the game – and if you now watch some episodes where they make some terrible dishes you ask how is it possible that they were considered good cooks??
Finally, considering what Luka Manfe’ or Natasha Crnjac did in Season 4, I think that this year is on a lower level.

If u are going for the likeability factor…then that would probably go to Elizabeth…most people consider Courtney to be a bitch
