TV Quick Hits: ‘The Strain’ episode 10 preview; Michael C. Hall on Broadway; ‘Penny Dreadful’ news
Michael C. Hall hits the stage – The “Dexter” star has officially secured his next big role, and it is one that could not be more different than anything he has done as of late.
Starting on October 16, Hall will be the star of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” on Broadway, and will continue in the role until early January. This news means that Andrew Rannells will end his eight-week run in the lead role come mid-October, which came following the Tony-winning run of Neil Patrick Harris in the role.
For Broadway producers, this seems to be a smart move given the enormous following that Michael has. After all, nobody blames him for the “Dexter” finale.
“Penny Dreadful” casting – For those who enjoy another Showtime drama, there is some new scoop for you in here, as well! Showtime has confirmed that Patti LuPone, who, like Rannells, has appeared on “Girls,” will be appearing this coming season as a character shrouded in mystery, but one with ties to Vanessa’s past.
Meanwhile, some other castings including Broadway vet Douglas Hodge as a Scotland Yard investigator named Bartholomew Rusk, Sarah Greene of “Vikings” as Evelyn Poole’s daughter Hecate, and Johnny Beauchamp in a role that is also shrouded in its own layer of mystery.
Season 2 of “Penny Dreadful” will air next spring.
“The Strain” promo – Finally, we turn to this question: What is coming up on “The Strain” Sunday night? We’ve got the first promo below, and the official synopsis from FX to go along with it.
“Eph investigates Kelly’s disappearance and struggles with what he finds. Dutch pursues a plan to retaliate against Palmer, and Fitzwilliam makes a surprising choice.”
This may seem short, but it’s a ton of information compared to what some FX shows choose to hand out.
