TV Quick Hits: Blake Shelton, ‘The Voice,’ Carrie Underwood, and NBC eyeing live sitcom
NBC taking a risk? – If this move happens, we would totally give NBC a round of applause. It would also be somewhat ironic that the way of the future would be going decades back into the past.
Deadline reports that Christopher Moynihan (“Man Up”) is working on a program called “Hospitality” for NBC that would be a comedy revolving around life at a hotel, and would actually be broadcast live every week. Not only that, but some commercials could also be live.
While we understand some not being in favor of what could be a gimmick, we’re excited to see if this happens. It could be a fun experiment, and NBC has shown time and time again that live television does at times equal big ratings.
Carrie Underwood’s project – Here is one that we find even crazier at the moment. Deadline also claims that Fox is working with the former “American Idol” champion on a six-hour miniseries that is inspired by her music video for “Two Black Cadillacs.”
Do we believe that Carrie is amazing in the vast majority of what she does? Definitely, but we feel like this may be a bridge too far for even her to pull off. It worked fine as a video, so why not just keep it that way?
Blake Shelton fun – Just to make you laugh here as we close off this article, here is the coach from “The Voice” mocking one of Jimmy Fallon’s games. We’re admittedly not the biggest fan of all of Blake’s music, but we’ve always loved him as a television personality.
Now, we’re going to go back to our campaign to get him to host “Saturday Night Live” in the future.
