‘Longmire’ season 4: Cast members still hopeful for new home after A&E cancellation
While it’s certainly understandable to be sad or even upset about the decision by A&E to cancel “Longmire” after four seasons, we do believe that there is still hope for the show … and so do many of the cast members, apparently.
Based on some of the immediate reactions to the network’s decision, the cancellation of the show is something that caught everyone off-guard almost equally. Surprised? We hardly are, given that this is the sort of thing that you really cannot predict. Who knew that the network was not going to be happy with it being their most-watched scripted show, or for it having such a passionate following? The real loser here in the end could be A&E, given that at this point, confidence is waning significantly that the network will actually keep one of their scripted products off the air.
So now, let’s turn to a few of the select social-media reactions from the cast. You’ve got Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, and Adam Bartley (which a message from Robert Taylor) all below. The only surprising person to not speak up yet is Katee Sackhoff, who was the biggest name attached to the project from the very beginning.
If you want the show back, just remember that these people do just as much and then some. This is their job, their employment. This is an environment where they have made many close friends.
Yesterday, we went through a list of likely destinations for the show, and we feel like AMC and Netflix are probably the two most-likely homes based on what we know. However, we’re not ruling out entirely someone like WGN America, who could be a darkhorse given their interest in expanding their scripted programming slate.

A&E had actually taken the show down to 42 minutes… form 44 (which is the normal length of actual programing for an hour show). Giving themselves an extra 2 minutes to sell advertising. But canceling the show is typical behavior for a network who is not interested in quality programing. They are simply interested in the bottom line and their slate of reality shows gives them a fatter one. I feel confident that Longmire will get picked up and then be in much, much better and more deserving hands. Hey A&E… I hear “Sons Of Guns” is looking for a new home. Of course you may have to wait till it’s star gets out of jail for raping his daughter. But hey… it’s a much better fit for you guys.

Totally disappointed. The show ended in such a way that placed Gerald McRaney’s character in the position as the prime antagonist for another exciting season. And to think dimwitted bachelors an bachelorettes along with naked dating are still going strong… Bring back GOOD STORYTELLING!

One of the best scripted shows on TV. I only watch A&E for Longmire. No sense in watching this reality trash network ever again. Longmire deserves a network that appreciates and supports this series. I’m hoping someone with a brain in the entertainment industry will pick this show up and promote it the way it deserves.

I cannot believe my favorite show has been canceled! The best I have seen in years…so well scripted! I bought the last season so I could watch it in full. The exec’s at A&E must be nuts. Longmire deserves a major network…so many people I know watch It !No more A&E for me!

NO! how can they do this, why are they doing this. It is one of the best shows on TV. They just keep putting those fake reality shows on with fat ass Kim K and the psycho house wives from every where. I want my Longmire back.

I’m absolutely sick of every new show that gets everyone’s interest peeked and all are happy that a network has gotten it’s brains back in working order by showing a show you can enjoy without worrying about what they might say or do during the hour (43 min) AND THEN as though all they want to do is make people unhappy they PULL THER PLUG! What ever network picks it up will have a long running show on there hands unless they let some brainless wonder AXE it. Can’t imagine who, why and how you plan to stick around with the crap you otherwise have on A & E, too bad we can’t give the networks the AX

WHY WOULD THE WRITER OF THIS ARTICLE THINK AMC, NETFLIX, WGN AMERICA, WOULD BE A GOOD CHOICE FOR LONGMIRE TO END UP. LONGMIRE IS A GREAT SHOW THAT NEEDS TO BE PICKED UP BY A MAJOR NETWORK.

NOTHING A&E DOES COMES AS A SURPRISE. A&E HAS PROVEN IN THE PAST THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT WHAT VIEWERS THINK. TIME TO DELETE A&E FROM MY TV.
