‘The Bachelor’: Juan Pablo Galavis, Andi Dorfman, Nick Viall on Chris Soules choice
This morning, ABC made it finally official that Chris Soules was going to be “The Bachelor,” which was basically to the surprise of no one. He has been the favorite for the role for many weeks now, and the only actual competition in Arie Luyendyk Jr. felt like he was too random a choice, given that he didn’t have anything to do with the show since Emily Maynard’s “Bachelorette” season.
Well, at least a few notable personalities related to the franchise have spoken up, and of course offered as much support to Chris as possible … including a guy who was certainly controversial as the leading man last year. Take a look below.
Juan Pablo Galavis – “CONGRATS to the NEW Bachelor @C_Soules… Make YOUR decisions, follow your HEART, have FUN and ALWAYS stay true to YOURSELF #NotNegotiable”
Andi Dorfman – “Congrats to the new Bachelor, C_Soules! So excited for you!!! Some woman is going to be very lucky if she wins that heart of yours!”
Nick Viall – “I think his tractor is sexy, so I am guessing 25 women will too. Congrats to my boy @C_Soules on being the next Bachelor!!”
One other thing that we want to point out is Marquel Martin retweeting some messages criticizing ABC for not making a bold move and hiring the first black Bachelor. We said all along that he was our personal pick, and his season would have been the most interesting. Ultimately, our feeling is just that this show is somewhat cowardly when it comes to casting their leads. They’ve found a certain type that works for them (humble white guys, with Juan Pablo as an exception), and that seems to get them the viewers. However, we would like to point out again that even from a business perspective, diversity wins. You may have hated Juan Pablo, but ratings for is season were great. Imagine what it would be for a minority Bachelor who was actually popular during his season?
Anyway, we’ll probably talk about this soon in an upcoming podcast. If you want to get some further TV updates on everything we cover right now, sign up today for our official newsletter.
